Poke the Box

by Seth Godin

Join us for our next Change Maker’s Book Club, where we’ll be discussing Poke the Box, by this year’s ACMP Global Conference keynote speaker Seth Godin.

Amazon synopsis: "If you're stuck at the starting line, you don't need more time or permission. You don’t need to wait for a boss’ okay or to be told to push the button; you just need to poke. Poke the Box is a manifesto by bestselling author Seth Godin that just might make you uncomfortable. It’s a call to action about the initiative you’re taking-– in your job or in your life. Godin knows that one of our scarcest resources is the spark of initiative in most organizations (and most careers)-– the person with the guts to say, “I want to start stuff.” Poke the Box just may be the kick in the pants you need to shake up your life."

Professional Credit: As with most ACMP DC programs (except happy hours) participation in the Change Maker’s Book Club can go toward your PDUs/CEUS for CCMP and PMP.

Your Facilitator: This installment of the Change Maker’s Book Club will be facilitated by Jennifer Rhodes, Executive VP at Tagence, Inc. At Tagence, Jennifer is responsible for strategic business initiatives as well as leading the Change Leadership / Change Management practice. She holds a PROSCI certification and is a Georgetown University Change Management Advanced Practitioner. Jennifer has a passion for change leadership, growing businesses and high performing teams, and mentoring individuals to be their best. She draws on her experience supporting commercial, government and non-profit sectors. In between work and family responsibilities, Jennifer sneaks in time to read the stack of books beside her bed. This one caught her eye at ACMP in Orlando and didn’t last long in the stack.

Short Cuts: We know that you don’t always have time to read the book, but that doesn’t mean you should skip the book club! You can find a video of Seth here, where he talks about the book and here’s a summary of the book, as well.

Registration for ACMP DC members is $10, for Non-members and friends is $15
